FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if you have muiltiple births at the same time?

We have a reliable and large group of industry professionals that we work with.  Todd and Lisa will have the first meeting with you.  If there is any conflict in scheduling because of your estimated due date, you will be paired up with one of our trusted partners.

What if my labor is very short or lasts more than 24 hours?

Hopefully your labor will be short and painless.  In the event it goes over 24 hours, you will be charged the appropriate day rate (please see price list)

Will you be on call for my birth?

We will be on call 24 hours a day 2 weeks prior to your estimated due date.  Call us any time of day and we will be by your side within 1 to 2 hours.

When do I call you, when the big day comes?

The minute you start feeling contractions or if your water breaks.  If you start seeing any signs of labor

call us immediately, even if you don't think you need us.  This will help prepare us to get to you at the drop of a hat. Early communication is very important!

How do we book you?

The minute you decide you want a film of your birth.  The sooner the better. Even if we are already booked we will do our best to pair you with one of our trusted partners.

What happens if we encounter an emergency during the birth?

In most some cases the hospital will not allow for us to continue shooting if the mother encounters an emergency during the birth.  In which case we will resume shooting when the hospital allows.  There is no refund if this happens, but we will make sure you are still happy with the final product.

Will the film be graphic?

Every mother has a different preference.  If you want a graphic version and a family friendly version, we would shoot from two angles so that we could cut away and not miss one moment.  We can also blur out certain parts for an extra charge.  We can shoot from various angles if you would rather keep it PG.

How soon will I receive a finished film?

The editing process is where the magic happens.  We need to go through all of the footage and put together the best representation of your special time.  This process can take anywhere from 2 to 4 months, depending on the amount of footage we have.  If for some reason you want to rush the process we can do so for a 25% rush fee.

What is the downside to having my partner or a family member shoot the birth?

The focus and attention will go more toward getting the shot, rather than truly being there for the mother and child.  Also, you will most certainly sacrafice professional footage, as most people are amature photographers/videographers.  Believe me, from having two children, there is nothing like truly being there, moment to moment.

Do you accomodate family's on a strict budget?

We do offer sliding scale depending on certain circumstances.  This will be determined on a case to case basis. We believe that everyone should have long lasting memories of such a beautiful time in their lives and we will do what we can to make that happen for you.
